Elijah’s Promise doesn’t simply provide meals to hungry people — we use food as a tool for change. We fight to end hunger through promoting good food for all, providing education and job training for the food industry, and creating social enterprise food businesses that help build a better world. You can learn more about each of these focuses and our related programs below:
Elijah’s Promise began as a volunteer-run soup kitchen serving the hungry in New Brunswick, NJ. We prepare thousands of delicious, nutritious meals each year and provide the hungry with access to fresh, quality food — because all people should have access to good food.
We provide individuals and families with the tools needed for personal and professional improvement. Whether through one of our community cooking classes or through extensive training in our culinary and baking arts programs, we work to empower lives.
Elijah’s Promise believes in food enterprises that benefit consumers, workers, and society as a whole. We do this by changing the way people eat and work through sustainable food businesses that bring us all a little closer to a better world.
